Fowl Watch

Please note you must be at least a level 24 to get the Fowl Pond.

After receiving the following popup, select Build Fowl Pond to begin construction (if you select Close, you can return to the market at any time to purchase the Fowl Pond.)

This is what your pond will look like when you start working on it.

These are all the items needed to complete your Fowl Pond (ask your friends for help in getting them all!)

While working on your fowl pond, you can begin the following missions. Missions appear when you place the pond. Note that you'll need to complete the pond to finish Part III:

Quote:
Duck, Duck...
Feed 15 Ducks on Your Homestead
Clear 15 Debris on Neighbors' Homestead
Clobber 2 Foxes
Reward: 300 Coins, 1 Goose Ready Boost, 300XP

Goose!
Feed 30 Adult Geese on Your Homestead
Collect 15 Pond Scum Kits
Harvest 30 Corn
Reward: 500 Coins, 1 Downy Feather, 500XP

Egg-Citing Surprises!
Collect 3 Fowl Pond Daily Bonuses
Store 100 Animals in the Fowl Pond
Collect 20 Crushed Oyster Shells
Reward: 750 Coins, 1 Fowl Statue, 750XP

Once your pond is completed, it will look like this. It is upgradeable. You can store up to 1,000 water critters inside (swans, ducks, injured ducks, turtles, frogs, adult geese & penguins.)

Swans (Kissing, Black, Pink & White) are all possible drops from collecting the daily bonus from the Fowl Pond.

After storing some critters, one of each will appear on top of your pond to represent what all is swimming in there.

After clicking on your pond, you can select How It Works & read the following:

Below is the screen you will see when looking at all the animals you have stored in the pond so far.

There is a new purchasable duck in the market, which may spawn a fox when tending.

3 new collections to try your hand at:

Also, a new injured critter: the Ugly Duckling!

Feed it sardines and it’ll turn into a swan! (Please note that you will need to tend to swans to spawn this particular critter.)

Wall post after feeding it its fill of sardines:

This has been a long time coming, considering you can store most animals, but the new swan looks pretty good.

Bess' missions

There are four new missions in FrontierVille from the new Rodeo series and the first one is titled Saddle Up. Here’s how the story begins: “Rumor is that the rodeo’s coming to town, pardner! Them horses’ll be mighty hungry, so gather up some grub for ‘em”.

In other words, here is what you need to do in order to complete the Saddle Up mission in FrontierVille:

- Tend 25 Animals on Horseback
- Plant 20 Corn
- Harvest 20 Apples

Some really, really simple requirements and you shouldn’t need more than a few minutes to complete this first step in the rodeo series.

The reward for completing the Saddle Up mission is 250 coins, 250 XP and a Sugar Cube (for your horse, of course)

The second mission in the new Rodeo series of goals in FrontierVille is titledA Mysterious Stranger and introduces the new cowboy in town: “Who’s that? A new cowboy in town! And he’s challenged Bess to a barrel race! Help her get ready to ride.”

Apparently, getting ready to ride for Bess means clobbering groundhogs, amongst other things, but every sportsman and woman has strange habits. Either way, here is what you need to do in order to complete the A Mysterious Stranger mission in FrontierVille:

- Clobber 3 Gophers on horseback
- Clear 10 Grass (yours or a neighbor’s)
- Have 10 Rodeo Posters

Again pretty simple (groundhogs love potatoes, so harvest them to get ‘em faster; and Rodeo Posters are obtained from friends). The reward for completing the A Mysterious Stranger mission is 250 XP, 250 Coins and one Carrot Treat.

The third mission in the new Rodeo series in FrontierVille, titled How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls? makes things just a little bit more difficult in terms of requirements, but once again it’s not something that will blow you away. But first, let’s check out the story: “Bess ain’t a quitter, and she’s ready to go another round. Help her pick up her spirits, and show that rider what she’s made of!”

In other words, here is what you need to do in order to complete the How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls? mission in FrontierVille:

- Collect 10 Go Bess Go Flags
- Harvest 20 Flax
- Mix a Concoction

You will again need to ask your friends for the “Go Bess Go” flags and most likely you’ll have to do the same to have the ingredients required to prepare a drink in the Saloon. A bit more difficult, as I said, but miles away from impossible.

After completing the How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls mission in FrontierVille, you will receive a reward consisting of 250 XP and 250 coins.

The fourth and last mission in the new Rodeo series of goals in FrontierVille is simply titled Giddyap, but it is by far the most difficult of them all. Here is how the story goes: “Now it’s your turn, pardner! Bess showed you how it’s done, so saddle up and give it a try!”

Well, I am sure that it sounds exciting! So here is what you need to do in order to complete the Giddyap mission in FrontierVille:

- Compete in 5 Barrel Races
- Feed 5 Neighbor Horses
- Collect 3 Rodeo Arena Bonuses

In order to challenge your friends for Barrel Races, you need a completed Rodeo Arena, also required for collecting the daily bonuses (duuuuh!).

I am sure you will enjoy completing this mission especially because it has a really sweet reward: 250XP, 250 Coins and the Midnight Bronco Unlocked (new horse!)

Folks, the great moment is here (and unfortunately, I’m not talking about the release of the Pioneer Trail)! But still, it’s something really exciting as well: after being rumored a little while ago and after completing the missions in the new series, you will get to take part in the FrontierVille Rodeo after building your own Rodeo Arena where you’ll be allowed to challenge your friends! I am sure you are curious to find out everything about this new feature, so read on to find out everything about it!

Before being able to challenge friends and take part in the Rodeo, you will first have to complete the Rodeo Arena in FrontierVille. Here are the requirements for completing the Arena:

By the looks of it, the Lariat comes from people who are not playing FrontierVille already, so you might have a little problem with that.

Either way, after completing your Rodeo Arena, you will be allowed to start challenging friends and take part in the Rodeo! In order to do so, click the completed arena and select “Race”. There, you will see the Arena menu and all the friends that you can challenge. They also have a difficulty level attached and that’s based on the skills their horses have – it’s not clear right now if the difficulty level is decided based on your horse’s level or by following a generic metric…

However, it’s not only the skill your horse has that helps you win a Rodeo, but a new feature called “Cheers”: you need to ask your friends for cheers in order to have more chances at winning the race (each lasts 12 hours). At the end of the race, you will see who won and you’ll be able to race again only after your horse has rested or by giving him a Bronco Tonic, a new marketplace item that costs 8HS. Of course, if you have more horses, you can use them all for the Rodeo.

Right now it’s not very clear the impact cheers have on a rodeo, but I do hope that it’s not decisive since it would kind of suck to have a very low level horse beat the crap out of you just because he has more friends.

We can all feel that the Pioneer Trail is closer and closer to hitting FrontierVille, and I am really sure that you’re all wondering what will be therequired items that you should have lots ofbefore heading to Fort Courage. To be honest, at this point there are no certain things, but we can assume that we’ll need more of some items: some of them are pretty obvious, while other are rumored ones or leaked ones over the internet.

Either way, here is a list of items you should start stocking up if you want to make sure that your trip on the Pioneer Trail will be a nice one (do have in mind that NONE of these items are confirmed by Zynga and it’s possible that some or all of them won’t be required for the Pioneer Trail):

- Saltpeter (you will need lots of it for ammo for your weapons on the Pioneer Trail. Trade in Manure Collections by the dozens!)
- Roasted Peanuts (these are part of the Peanut Collection)
- Gold Coins (the ones rewarded for finding people via the Detective Agency. This is a tricky situation so don’t explode just yet – but if you can bring back some people to the game, it would certainly do you no harm!)
- Medical Kits (Trade in the Doctor Office collection or receive them via free gifts)
- Have as much Iron Ore as possible (you get this randomly for performing actions on your homestead)
- Tools (these are again tricky items to have, you get them from trading in the Crafting Collection and potentially from neighbors visiting your homestead).

And these are some of the RUMORED items that you will be needing during your trip on the Pioneer Trail. I repeat: these requirements are not confirmed by Zynga, but I think you would be a lot safer if you would actually start stocking them up

Beaver valley preview

As you probably know already from the map of the pioneer trail that I’ve shown you quite a while now, one of the areas that we’ll visit will be called Beaver Valley and until today it was a complete mystery. However, Zynga decided to show us just a little bit more of it: an impressive Valley (or, most probably, just a small portion of it) that actually seems to be taken from a different game. But it’s actually FrontierVille, my friends, and it’s really exciting.

Here is the image I am talking about, an area that we’ll see while traveling on the Beaver Valley in the Pioneer Trail (click to enlarge a little bit):

Here is what Zynga had to say about it: “The Wild Lupine is bloomin’, the wind is whistlin’ through the hickory trees, and the wild turkey are, well, wild! Beaver Valley is beautiful this time of year! Soon you can hit the Pioneer Trail and see fer yerself!”

We just don’t know what “soon” really means, but it’s certainly closer than it ever was!

Dancing Bear

As part of the 1 Year Anniversary event in FrontierVille, Zynga has decided to offer all the pioneers a really cool looking decoration to place on their homestead: the FrontierVille Dancing Bear, something that makes me remember the good ol’ times of my childhood when I loved Baloo – you can re-live some memorieshere, as an off-topic.

Now back to our Dancing Bear in FrontierVille, you will receive the following pop-up when you log in to the game(thanks, Alexander, for sending in the image!)

However, I didn’t get that pop-up, but still received the Dancing Bear: you will find it in your inventory and once placed it will look like the one in the image below (and it’s animated too!):

Bess' Rodeo

Zynga has announced that pretty soon (most likely in today’s update or at most by the end of the week), we’ll finally get to see Bess proving her talent at the Rodeo (and again, most likely, with clothes on this time!!!!)

The details about this new feature are pretty scarce, but exciting enough to make us keep our eyes on the computer screens, waiting for the update to happen. Here is what Zynga wrote about the Bess Rodeo feature in FrontierVille:

This week we have some new things that should provide some excitement, like the brand new Rodeo, where you get to compete with your neighbors in barrel races and much more!

Tuesday, 21 June 2011

Zynga has posted on their official FrontierVille Facebook Wall a new teaser about the upcoming FrontierVille Pioneer Trail (aka The Oregon Trail) in which doesn’t actually say too much, at least for those who watched the trailer and checked out the information on FrontierVille Info in the past. But a bit of refreshment never hurts, as well as the feeling of closeness of the release date this brings.

Basically, Zynga released the image below with the following text: “Everybody’s got a job to do out on the Pioneer Trail! Yer hunter can shoot varmints fer meat, yer doc can find medicine to keep you healthy, and yer carpenter can scavenge parts to keep the wagon rollin’! So round up some friends fer yer crew and take on the trail together!”

We all knew that we’ll need a crew of The Hunter, The Doctor, The Carpenter to help us on our trip but it would’ve been better if Zynga detailed how will they actually help us along the way: by sending items, by playing the game as our sidekicks or at the same time with us? It’s difficult to say, but I am sure we’ll find out REALLY soon!

Save Trees From Cordwood Pete Mission Guide

It’s time for a new mission from the FrontierVille Legends series and another woodcutter: this time it’s Cordwood Pete and the mission is simply called Frontierville Legends IV: Save Trees from Cordwood Pete. I am sure you’d like to know everything about this new mission, so let’s not waste any time and let’s check out all the details.

Here is what you need to do in order to complete the Frontierville Legends IV: Save Trees from Cordwood Pete mission in FrontierVille:

- Chop 100 Trees on your homestead or your neighbors’
- Collect 15 Lemonade
- Have or craft 20 Fire

Lemonades are items that you’ll have to get from your neighbors and except for that, the mission is pretty simple. If you have enough cloth to make the fire, that is…

The reward for completing the Save Trees from Cordwood Pete mission is 750 XP, 1 Oak Tree and one Gold Axe, which does the exact same thing as the Sharp Axe (chop 5 times with 1 energy), but looks a bit cooler.

Red dog icon update

Tending my homestead earlier and a red dog icon appeared, on previous experience I thought I won't collect the icon just yet, so I carried on doing stuff around my homestead. They kept popping up everywhere, until I accidentally clicked on one and the "streak" ended, but i did get the following out of it:-

I also had 26 x fast hands and 26 x building tools (bricks, paint etc..)

Campfire missions

First of all, you will receive the pop-up asking you to place the Pioneer Camp as soon as you log in to the game, and then you’ll have to finish building the Camp using the required materials, as seen in the image below:

Fortunately, we’re talking about just a few of each items, which makes the Pioneer Camp in FrontierVille really easy to build. Maybe because the Pioneer Trail is just around the corner? Let’s hope so!

Now back to the camp fire – new characters (and probably ones that we’ll meet again during our trip to Fort Courage) will pass by the fire and tell you stories about the Trail, but only after you help them in one way or another (by completing missions). There are 5 new characters that you must help to find out valuable information about the Pioneer Trail and receive valuable items from them: everything is done via a new series of Missions.

The Missions

Pioneer Camp Missions and requirements. We’ll start with the first mission in the series:

FrontierVille Make Camp mission guide

- Finish Building the Pioneer Camp
- Tend 40 Cows on your Homestead
- Clobber 5 Groundhogs

The rewards are very important here: 500 XP, one Flint (part of the Pioneer Camp collection) and a Blue Tent – possibly an item required for the Pioneer Trail.

FrontierVille A Handy Dandy mission guide

- Chop Oak Trees 100 Times on your Homestead or a Neighbors’
- Collect Two Pine Cones (Pine Tree collection item)
- Collect 10 Trail Canteens (ask friends to get them)

The reward for completing the A Handy Dandy mission is hearing the story of the Carpenter character and more important 1,000 coins, a Nature Journal and a Girly Tent.

FrontierVille Mountain Goat Jerky mission guide

- Collect one Chicken Drumstick (chicken collection)
- Collect 100 Food
- Collect 8 Preserving Salts (ask friends)

Completing the Goat Jerky mission will unlock the story of the Hunter and reward you with 1,000 XP, a Roasted Mallow and a Pioneer Stew Pot.

FrontierVille Pioneer’s Scourge mission guide

- Clear 50 Grass on your Homestead or a Neighbor’s Homestead
- Harvest 10 Wildflowers on your Homestead
- Collect 8 Stinky Herbs (again, ask neighbors for the items)

Completing this mission will unlock for you the story the Doctor has to say about the Pioneer’s Trail and reward you with 2,000 coins, a Skeeter Ointment and a Polka Dot Tent.

FrontierVille Mathilda the Rifle Mission guide

- Collect 5 Saltpeter (trade in the Manure Collection)
- Collect 10 Iron Ore (clear rocks on your homestead)
- Collect 10 Rounds (ask friends)

As the mission suggests, the character unlocked by it is the Soldier and the reward you get for completing the mission is 1,500 XP, a Roasted Mallow and a Camo Tent.

FrontierVille Pioneer Goods Mission guide

- Craft Two Cribs (inside the Barn)
- Collect One Brake Lever (part of the Wagon collection)
- Collect Eight Shipping Manifests (ask friends)

This final mission in the series unlocks the Trader and his story, plus the fact that it offers you a reward of 2,000XP, a Mess Kit and a Horse-stream Trailer.

The collections

Pioneer Campsite Collection which requires you to gather the following items to complete it:

- Flint
- Nature Journal
- Skeeter Ointment
- Roasted Mallow
- Mess Kit

As you can see in the image above, the reward for trading in this collection is a Sleeping bag for Two, a decoration you can place on your homestead instead of something that you can use while on the Pioneer Trail in FrontierVille.

However, the nice thing about this collection is the fact that all the collectibles required for completing it will be rewarded to you when you complete Pioneer camp missions, which make it one of the easiest collections to complete and trade in.

Red dog bonus

I thought i'd give the red dog bonus theory a test. I used an old account of mine to test how many red dogs would appear to get the bonuses. I cleared the whole homestead to see what i'd get. The following screenshot is what i found out.

This is clearing the WHOLE homestead of EVERY debris... is it worth using a huge amount of energy ? I'll let you decide.

And here are the collectible crates I received....

Fanny's Dress

Well the dress is finished and is setup....there wasn't that many options to choose from, had to be white, which is a shame. I think a Red dress would look nice, with a man utd logo on it, but beggars can't be choosers lol.
